INDUSTRY SOLUTION: PACKAGING & CONTAINERS

Prototyping Your Packaging

From concept validation to small-batch market testing, our manufacturing services help you develop innovative and functional packaging solutions faster than ever.

From Bottles to Bespoke Containers

We can produce a wide range of packaging prototypes for physical evaluation and testing.

Bottles & Jars

Create high-fidelity models of custom bottle and jar designs. We use CNC machining and polishing of clear plastics like Acrylic and PC to simulate the look and feel of glass or clear PET.

Caps & Closures

Prototype complex closures with features like living hinges and snap-fits. We can 3D print or machine these parts to test their mechanical function and fit with the container.

Custom Cases & Inserts

Manufacture custom-fit protective cases or internal inserts for high-value products. We can create form-fitting features that perfectly match your product's geometry.

Key Services for Packaging Innovators

  • Clear Part Prototyping: Our CNC machining and polishing services create crystal-clear prototypes that accurately simulate the appearance of final glass or PET containers.
  • High-Fidelity Appearance Models: We use SLA 3D printing combined with expert painting and finishing to create stunning, opaque models for marketing, photoshoots, and user testing.
  • Functional Testing: We can manufacture prototypes in production-intent materials like PP and HDPE to allow for functional testing of threads, seals, and hinge mechanisms.
  • Rapid Tooling: For market trials or small initial production runs, we can create a low-cost injection mold tool to produce several thousand final-quality parts.

Packaging Prototyping FAQ

What is the best way to prototype a clear bottle?

For the highest quality and clarity, CNC machining from a solid block of Acrylic (PMMA) or Polycarbonate (PC), followed by polishing, is the best method. For faster, lower-cost concept models where perfect clarity is not essential, SLA 3D printing with a clear resin is a good alternative.

Can you prototype a living hinge for a bottle cap?

Yes. The best way to prototype a living hinge is to CNC machine it from a sheet of Polypropylene (PP), which is the most common material for production living hinges. We can also 3D print it in Nylon (via SLS/MJF) for a functional, but less durable, prototype.

Can you apply graphics or labels to our prototypes?

Yes. As part of our finishing services, we can apply custom graphics, logos, and text to your prototypes using techniques like silk screening, pad printing, or applying high-quality printed decals to simulate a final labeled product.
