Common Questions About Our Manufacturing Services

What type of document format does HyProto accept for quoting?

We primarily accept 3D CAD files in STL, STEP, or IGES format. For detailed specifications, 2D PDF drawings are highly recommended. If you have larger files, they can be sent via DropBox or a similar method; email us directly, and we'll find the best way to accept your larger files.

How long does it take to receive a quote?

In most cases, we respond to quotation requests within 24 business hours of receiving an RFQ. If the quote is delayed due to complexity or other factors, we will notify you as soon as possible.

Is it acceptable for you to sign an NDA?

Yes, it is. We strictly adhere to NDA agreements. We understand the importance of protecting your intellectual property and are happy to sign confidentiality agreements before you share sensitive project details.

How long does production time take?

Production time varies depending on the specific manufacturing process, part size, required quantity, and finishing requirements. Quality prototyping parts can often be made in 3-7 days. Rapid injection molding may take 2-5 weeks to complete, including tooling production.

Is CMM testing and reporting available?

Yes. We have expert technicians and advanced inspection equipment, including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and 3D scanning, to provide full dimensional inspection. We can provide CMM reports or 3D scanning reports upon customer’s request to verify critical tolerances.

What tolerances can HyProto achieve?

There is not a given set of tolerances that fits all processes and materials. In every case, the final tolerances on your part will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to: Part size, Design geometry, the number, type and size of features, and Material(s).

Generally, our tolerances adhere to ISO 2768 (medium) for machined plastic and ISO 2768 (fine) for machined metals. General tolerance for metal 3D printing is +/- 0.5mm. A shrinkage rate of +/- 0.15% is to be expected for vacuum casting. All manufacturing and technical specifications need to be clearly specified in the 2D drawings in order to be followed.

What is the manufacturing process once an order is placed?

Once your order is confirmed, we will perform a full Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review. Our engineers will point out any areas that may require modification in order to improve manufacturability, reduce production time, or lower costs. It’s helpful if you can specify which areas in your design have critical tolerances that must be met and which can be slightly modified if needed to reduce production time and cost.

What type of surface finishes does HyProto provide?

HyProto's in-house finishing capabilities include assembling & form fitting, fastening & metal inserting, sanding & polishing, blasting & brushing, and painting & printing. We also offer a wide array of specialized surface treatments through our trusted partners, including laser etching, anodizing, electroplating, chroming, chemical finishing, and powder coating. We support one-stop surface finishing operations for client’s convenience.

What is HyProto’s import and export code for China?

HyProto's import and export code for China is 4420945591.

What are the shipping terms?

Our standard terms are Ex Works (EXW) for rapid prototyping and regular production orders. This means the customer is responsible for shipping, customs clearance, and all other associated fees once the goods have left our premises. For express shipments, we use Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), meaning the client is responsible for paying import duty when the goods arrive at your destination. We also offer terms of Delivery At Place (DAP) by DHL. Customers also have the option to use their own shipping accounts (e.g., DHL, FedEx, or UPS) during checkout, if applicable.

What are the payment terms?

Rapid prototyping customers must pay in advance for the first three orders. Except in very special cases, all tooling orders require a 50% upfront payment, with the remaining balance due upon completion or shipment.

How does HyProto ensure the quality of my parts?

Once your order is confirmed, we perform a full Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review to highlight any potential issues that our engineers feel may affect the quality of your parts. We have the ability to share inspection data with you in real-time so we can work together to address any quality issues during production. All incoming materials will meet your design specifications, and we provide final inspection reports before shipment.

What is the maximum part size you can machine?

Our maximum machining part size is typically 1200 x 800 x 600 mm. For larger components, we can often split the design into multiple sections, machine them, and then precisely join them together in a secondary assembly operation.

Does HyProto have 5-axis machines to produce high-precision parts?

Yes, we are equipped with advanced Haas machines from the USA. Our 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling machines provide us with flexible capacity to handle your customized parts, no matter how simple or complex, ensuring high precision.

What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)?

For CNC machining and 3D printing services, our MOQ is just 1 piece. For injection molding, while there is an upfront tooling cost, we support low-volume production starting from around 500-1000 pieces.

How can I pay HyProto?

We accept payments via Telegraphic Transfer (TT) to our bank account. For smaller transactions or convenience, we also accept payments via PayPal.
