Precision Micromachining Services for Demanding Applications

Honyo Prototype delivers advanced CNC micromachining services engineered for industries where microscopic precision directly impacts performance and reliability. Our specialized capabilities focus on producing complex, high-integrity components with features measured in microns—critical for medical devices, aerospace subsystems, semiconductor tooling, and optical instrumentation. Leveraging state-of-the-art multi-axis CNC machining centers, we achieve tolerances down to ±0.0002 inches (±5 microns) while maintaining exceptional surface finishes and geometric accuracy across challenging materials like titanium, PEEK, hardened steels, and specialized alloys.

Our turnkey micromachining process integrates rigorous metrology protocols, including high-magnification optical inspection and CMM validation, ensuring every micro-feature meets stringent functional requirements. This commitment to precision is matched by operational agility: Honyo Prototype’s proprietary Online Instant Quote system allows engineers to upload CAD files and receive detailed, binding cost and lead-time estimates within minutes—eliminating traditional quoting delays that stall development cycles. By combining micron-level machining expertise with seamless digital workflow integration, we accelerate your path from prototype to production without compromising on quality or repeatability.

Accelerate your next micro-component project with Honyo Prototype’s precision CNC micromachining services and experience the efficiency of our Online Instant Quote platform.

Technical Capabilities

micromachining services

Micromachining services at Honyo Prototype are engineered for high-precision component manufacturing, specializing in complex geometries and tight tolerance requirements. Our capabilities include 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling as well as precision turning, enabling versatile production of miniaturized and intricate parts across a range of engineering-grade materials. These processes are supported by advanced tooling, high-resolution metrology systems, and rigid process controls to maintain tolerances down to ±0.0002″ (±0.005 mm).

We work with a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, ABS, and nylon—each selected based on mechanical performance, machinability, and application environment. The table below outlines the key technical specifications of our micromachining services:

Parameter Specification
Machining Types 3-Axis, 4-Axis, and 5-Axis CNC Milling; CNC Turning

From CAD to Part: The Process

micromachining services

Honyo Prototype delivers precision micromachining services through a rigorously controlled digital workflow designed for speed, accuracy, and manufacturability assurance. Our process begins when a client uploads their native CAD file (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, or native formats accepted) to our secure customer portal. This triggers immediate geometric analysis by our proprietary AI engine, which cross-references the design against our extensive database of material properties, machine capabilities, and historical process parameters.

The AI Quote phase generates a comprehensive preliminary assessment within minutes. This is not merely a cost estimate but a technical evaluation including identified potential manufacturability risks, recommended material options for micron-level tolerances, initial lead time projection, and a firm price based on validated production parameters. Critical geometric features such as wall thicknesses below 0.1mm, aspect ratios exceeding 10:1, or surface finishes under Ra 0.4µm are specifically flagged for engineering review.

Following client acceptance of the AI Quote, the project enters the mandatory Design for Manufacturability (DFM) stage. A dedicated Honyo manufacturing engineer conducts a detailed technical review, collaborating directly with the client’s design team. This human-led analysis verifies AI findings, addresses flagged risks, and proposes actionable optimizations—such as adjusting draft angles for micro-molding compatibility or modifying internal radii to prevent tool breakage during micro-milling. The DFM report includes annotated CAD markups and specific tolerance justification per ISO 2768-mK standards for features under 5mm.

Upon DFM approval and formal purchase order issuance, production commences in our climate-controlled micromachining cell. Components are manufactured using calibrated Swiss-type lathes (e.g., Star Micronics Seiki) and 5-axis micro-mills (e.g., DMG MORI µMILL series) with sub-micron positional accuracy. In-process inspections via high-resolution optical comparators and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) with 0.5µm resolution ensure conformance to critical dimensions. All toolpaths undergo dry-run validation in virtual machine simulation software before physical machining begins.

Final delivery includes the precision-machined components in anti-static, humidity-controlled packaging with full traceability documentation. This encompasses first-article inspection reports (FAIR) showing actual vs. nominal dimensions for all critical features, material certification, and a comprehensive process validation summary. Typical turnaround from CAD upload to shipment for qualified micromachined parts ranges from 7 to 15 business days, depending on complexity and material availability. This integrated approach ensures that medical device components, semiconductor fixtures, and optical mounts meet the stringent requirements of industries where micron-level deviations are unacceptable.
